XBox One for Business
Our son loves his Xbox One. He plays games. He watches YouTube videos (Hello Peanut Butter Gamer). In fact, accessing the internet is one of his favorite thing to do on the system.
I was reviewing some of our website metrics this week, in particular devices used to access xmatters.com. If the connection is not clear, here it is: Starting in the third week of February, we’ve started seeing some small traffic to our website on XBox One.
XBox One for Business
I thought it was weird, so I did a little research.
Microsoft has been talking about loading the system with the Windows 10 operating system. If and when that happens, XBox One just might be the most versatile and least productive business device on the market. Until then, it works moderately as an internet browser. It seems people can have the best of both worlds with the XBox One app for Windows 10, but we have not explored this option (our son gets plenty of gaming time as it is).
I suppose it is not so surprising that that some people are trying to do business on game systems. I mean, why not? If it doesn’t work, go back to your laptop or your phone.
But it still left me with questions about the timing.
Why February?
We had no traffic in January or the first half of January from the XBox One. So what happened in the second week of February?
Is the XBox One the new go-to gift for Valentine’s Day?
Is it a thoughtful gift for President’s Day in the U.S?
Does Punxsutawney Phil see an XBox One’s shadow on Groundhog’s Day?
Well, I don’t know about all that, but XBox One sales did trend upward in February, although not approaching Playstation 4’s trajectory, according to VGChartz.
So we still have a mystery to solve, and we’ll have fun figuring it out.
